What the LungMAP corpus contains, by technology, donor, lung region and stage. Every chart is clickable — selecting a value opens the datasets behind it.

No donor record carries a health status in this data release, so disease means the donor took part in a study of that disease. Each study's own controls are left out.

Omics datasets by modality

4 datasets, including spatial omics. Imaging is a different unit — see below

Omics modality by species

Technology

Instruments and assays recorded against datasets

Lung region

The 14 most annotated of 2 anatomy terms

Developmental stage

Datasets per age range, grouped by species

Donors

1,841 donors across three species

Imaging collections

21 collections holding 358 images — a different unit from an omics dataset, so reported on its own axis

Dataset size

How many samples each dataset carries

How things are counted. Omics datasets, spatial omics and imaging collections are reported separately. A single-cell RNA-seq run and an H&E slide are not comparable units, and summing them gave a headline in which 98% of "datasets" were images. Spatial omics — Xenium and nano-DESI mass-spec imaging — sits with omics, because it measures molecules; in situ hybridization and immunofluorescence sit with imaging, because they image a handful of targets.
