How many samples each dataset carries

How things are counted. Omics datasets, spatial omics and imaging collections are reported separately. A single-cell RNA-seq run and an H&E slide are not comparable units, and summing them gave a headline in which 98% of "datasets" were images. Spatial omics — Xenium and nano-DESI mass-spec imaging — sits with omics, because it measures molecules; in situ hybridization and immunofluorescence sit with imaging, because they image a handful of targets.
